I Used to be a BLACKSMITH!!

I started blacksmithing simply because I wanted to make a knife. A friend had taken a
"green coal" class at the local historical village and knew the basics of the craft. We found
some bricks, a pipe and a hair dryer and built our forge. The anvil was a  section of railroad
iron mounted on a stump. we had a 16 ounce ball peen and a claw hammer. That was
1992, since then, I have built several forges, including 3 fairly accurate medieval great
bellowes and an electric model scrounged entirely from other peoples dumpsters.

I have been making knives since 1992 using traditional blacksmithing methods. I never
try to copy historical knives, but I try to make pieces that could have actually existed
based on archaeological finds. Each knife is one of a kind and will never be duplicated
      exactly.

I am NOT TAKING ANY ORDERS ON FULL SIZED KNIVES OR
BLACKSMITHING. I am only making the toys nowadays!

I built the great bellowes to serve as my portable event forge. It breaks down flat, all pieces are removable and it carries like a suitcase. I have upgraded it with much larger input and outlet valves and a larger firepot with removable ash-dump. I can easily get welding temperatures in about 15 minutes. It is a double action, two lung bellowes. Here you see it in service at various SCA events where I sometimes teach blacksmithing.

Brazier test!!!
Hana has determined that the braziers will hold 200 pounds of blacksmith!

This is a small gallery of my past work. Blacksmithing, and making knives is near and dear to my heart and although I am now not producing these items, I thought it would be nice to show them here in this gallery. Thanks for visiting my web site, and enjoy!
